Meet Our Brand Ambassador

I'm a life-long Texan and live in Austin. I have always sewn, as a little girl I would make clothes for dolls using my mother's sewing scraps. For years I sewed garments for me or my two daughters with an occasional quilt, but in 2015 I attended the QuiltCon and caught the quilting bug. I've been focused on quilting ever since.

I prefer traditional blocks with a modern twist. I wouldn't say I'm completely a modern quilter, but I lean more in that direction. I love all types of star blocks done in a variety of ways. I am especially fond of quilts that have secondary star designs as a result of block placement. I recently completed a quilt that did this very thing. But then, I also like the idea of an entire bed-sized quilt made from a single star design such as the Ohio Star.

I love the tradition of quilts marking special moments in someone's life such graduations, weddings, or a new baby. For example I made a quilt for my youngest sister's high school graduation. It's showing a little wear, but it's still being used today.

When I was a teenager in the 70's, my mom had a hand-quilting frame in our family den and she and my great aunt would sit there and quilt in the evenings. I sometimes think I'd like to set up a hand quilting frame to do this one day.
